The Vine Staff
Travis grew up in the mountains of Montana while his wife, Jennica, was born and raised in the great Hoosier state. Both have been serving in ministry since their youth, and spent most of their first decade of marriage helping with church plants. It was through helping other pastors with church planting that they discerned their calling to plant a church in Goshen. Travis & Jennica enjoy life with two children: a son, Ezekiel and daughter, Elliet. Travis is a natural-born entrepreneur and often dreams up business ideas he’ll never use, just for the fun of it. In his free time, he prefers any activity that gets him outside and into the woods.
Pastor of Groups & Outreach
Bill was born in the state-next-door, in Elmhurst, Illinois. He has been married to his beautiful wife, Barbara for 29 years and has 4 grown children and 10 adorable grandchildren. Bill has been in the military for the last 20+ years, which enabled him and his family to live in some amazing places and be involved church leadership and a couple of church plants. Bill and Barbara lived in Montana for 20 years until God called them to move to Indiana to help with the Vine. Bill oversees our Small Groups, Outreach ministries and our vibrant pre-service Prayer Meeting. Bill and Barbara love to spend time in the presence of God, beautifully exhibit the gift of hospitality and genuinely love people. Bill misses days of solitary hunting and hiking in the mountains of Montana, but is enjoying the great increase of population in Indiana.
Director of Newcomers
Amanda grew up literally in the middle of a cornfield in Noble County and made it as far from home as Syracuse. Amanda is our Director of Newcomers and works to create a space that feels safe and comfortable to our newcomers, and is a member of our Preaching Team. Amanda is a tireless extrovert and often neglects laundry and dishes to spend time with people. Amanda is married to Justin, one of our worship leaders. Together they enjoy traveling, good meals at home with new and old friends, and bickering over whose turn it is to pick the movie.
Pastor of Groups
Tom grew up working on the family farm, in Middlebury, Indiana. After high school, he went to culinary school and then attended a ministry and leadership school in Indianapolis, which led to ministry experiences in multiple Midwest cities. Tom is our Director of Facility and Ministry Services; he keeps our building ship-shape and leads our Prayer Ministry Team and oversees our Security, Cleaning and Maintenance Teams. Tom is an outdoors-man and loves deer hunting, and is seldom seen without his Stanley thermos of coffee. He and his wife, Hannah, have two young sons Jacob and Isaiah, 2 dogs and don’t get nearly enough sleep.
Director of Next Generation Ministries
Danielle was born in Illinois, but moved to Indiana to study Psychology at Trine University, in Angola. She became familiar with the Michiana area through a summer job at Camp Shipshewana, then settled in Goshen after graduation. Before becoming our Children’s Director, Danielle spent five years working with kids, teens and families in a community mental health setting. She is passionate for our kids to love Jesus, to learn how to pray and hear God’s voice, and to know they belong in this family. Danielle often says that she is a kid at heart, and this comes out in her passion and curiosity for life. She spent a year tracking daily moments of “delightitude,” in pictures on her social media feed, to let the pursuit of delight and gratitude become second nature. She can be found at the Chief at least once a week in the summer months, and if Peanut Butter Oreo is on the menu, you can guarantee that’s what she’s ordering.
Valerie Jairosi Bauer
Valerie is our Communications Coordinator, overseeing all web, social media and print communications. Valerie is Zimbabwean, but moved with her family to South Africa when she was thirteen because of political unrest under the Mugabe administration. She studied Dietetics and Occupational therapy at university but eventually focused her passion on Graphic Design. Valerie met her husband, Ken, online and connected quickly through a conversation about Batman. They were married in 2018 and chose to settle in Ken’s hometown of Goshen. She is growing to appreciate Northern Indiana, especially the Chief, but has yet to reconcile with our climate as her fro cannot flourish in humidity. Valerie constantly looks forward to trips home to see her family, and especially her mom’s cooking.
Next Gen Assistant Coordinator
Carmen grew up in Millersburg, IN and received her Bachelors of Elementary Education from Indiana University. After college she worked as a teacher for a few years but was then led to work outside of the education realm. She quickly learned that her desire to work with and positively impact the lives of children was something her soul needed, which led her to start volunteering in the Quest Kids class on Sundays. Carmen felt led to work with children again permanently and was very excited to join The Vine Team as the Next Gen Assistant Coordinator. Carmen currently resides in South Bend with her husband, James, and their two four-legged fur babies. They are happy to be adding another two-legged member to their family in February 2021! Carmen loves working with children and is passionate about leading them to Christ. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and taking walks in nature.
Building & Grounds Coordinator
Doug grew up in Elkhart, Indiana. He has a degree in Radio Broadcasting and has worked at numerous TV and radio stations. He came from an unchurched home and invited Jesus into his heart at the age of 31. Doug is our Building & Grounds Coordinator; he keeps our building ship-shape and oversees our Cleaning and Maintenance Teams. Doug loves classic movies and TV shows, the older the better. He and his wife, Shana, have 7 children and 14 grandkids and an 80 lb. English Bulldog named Pork Chop.
Bailey is the Worship Coordinator at the church. She grew up in Nappanee, Indiana where she won many badminton tournaments, costume contests, and made many lattes for the not-yet caffeinated people of the town. After high school, Bailey moved to South Bend to study communication at IUSB. In her first year at IUSB, she was a communications and graphic design intern at The Vineyard Church Mishawaka. After her internship, she led a creative design team and a young adult worship team before moving to Goshen and working at The Vine Church. Bailey loves Jesus and her passion for worship has come from her passion for the one who saved her! She loves that music is a great tool for honoring the Lord but loves discovering new ways to worship Him every day! Her love for art and design led her on a journey to see how deserving God is of our attention and praise in all ways.
