“Let no one look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in your speech, conduct, love, faithfulness, and purity.”
– 1 Timothy 4:12
In the verse above, Timothy was probably around 35 years old, but during that time he would have been considered a part of the youth. God was trying to tell Timothy that just because society considered him young, he was still capable of being a great example. My purpose for working with our youth is to help them become awesome examples of Christ in church, school, and our community.
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
-Proverbs 22:6 ESVI think it is important that an environment, where seeking to know more of who Jesus is, is encouraged and fostered. My heart for our youth group is to build supporting relationships as God equips our youth for their purposes throughout life. Life can be tough and come at you from all angles; having a Christ centered foundation and community behind our youth is huge.
I have been helping within youth groups for the past 8+yrs and love to see the spiritual growth of each student past and present. It is one of my passions to help youth see God’s love and how he is speaking to them in their everyday life. As a youth group leader, one of our main goals is to invest in the lives of students and their families by showing them that there is a love far greater than they could imagine. I strive to inspire the next generation to put God first and to trust Him with everything in their lives.
